As we celebrated the Ascension a couple weeks back, it may be overlooked in the 'great commission’ verse that: “They saw Him and worshiped Him, but some doubted.” Matthew 28:17.
They saw Him, worshiped Him… and doubted.
But they went. We can give them grace remembering that the Ascension command and the Pentecost promise are linked. After the Holy Spirit was released (Acts 2), they spoke, they went, they shared the Gospel and changed the world.
As creatures caught in an evil world and fleshly limitation, it is easy to doubt. Who are we to represent the Lord? How can I make an impact with so little skill, knowledge, and grace?
Jesus knew the disciples doubted. Yet He sent them under His authority and knowing the Spirit would fill the gap between human doubt and heavenly purpose.
Just go… believing the Father sees you and knows you.
Just go… trusting the one who has all authority in heaven and on earth.
Just go… counting on the Spirit to direct your steps and give you the words.
Just go… and be the person that is meant to be there for the Lord’s purpose.
